On Tuesday Jarno Trulli and Ricardo Zonta began a three day test for the Jordan Honda team in extremely hot conditions at Magny-Cours.

The team conducted a productive day with Trulli completing 77 laps and Zonta finishing 59 laps, although Zonta lost some track time this morning due to a minor fuel system problem.

Zonta set the sixth fastest lap time of 1:16.37 and Trulli was next quickest with a best time of 1:16.53. Both drivers concentrated on developing general chassis set-up in preparation for the French Grand Prix (1 July).

On Wednesday the Jordan Honda team completed the second of a three day test, again in hot conditions, at Magny-Cours.

Heinz-Harald Frentzen joined Jarno Trulli in the morning but unfortunately after 11 laps, Frentzen felt unwell, complaining of a headache. The team decided to rest him as he was still feeling the effects of his accident in Monaco. Ricardo Zonta returned to the circuit to complete 34 laps in the afternoon and post the seventh fastest lap time of 1:15.81.

Trulli completed 100 laps with the tenth quickest time of 1:16.40 and spent the morning working on general set-up for the French Grand Prix and engine mapping for Honda.

Zonta was collected in Frentzen’s jet and arrived at the circuit at three o’clock to join Trulli. Both drivers spent the afternoon on a tyre programme for Bridgestone.

Jarno Trulli and Ricardo Zonta today completed the final day of a three day test for Benson and Hedges Jordan Honda in cooler conditions at Magny-Cours.

Trulli completed 58 laps and posted the fifth fastest time of 1:14.84. In the morning he worked on chassis set-up and tyre evaluation, and spent the afternoon testing development brake components and carrying out various installation checks for the Canadian Grand Prix.

Zonta worked on general chassis set-up in the morning and spent the afternoon running development aerodynamic parts. He was sixth quickest with a time of 1:15.08 after completing 77 laps.

The test team leaves Magny-Cours satisfied with the completion of a predominantly productive three day programme with only minor problems.

Yesterday the team sent Heinz-Harald Frentzen home from the test early, as he was feeling unwell with the effects of his accident at the Monaco Grand Prix. He returned home to Monaco and subsequent medical tests have shown no sign of injury so he has been cleared to race at the Canadian Grand Prix.

Having sought medical advice and undergone several tests, Frentzen was able to report back to the team with the good news that there was no sign of injury as a legacy of the accident. He has been advised to rest until the Canadian Grand Prix, however.
