18th May - No launch control for Jarno at Monaco.

Although the Jordan team has identified and rectified the problems that it experienced during the starts of the Spanish and Austrian Grand Prix, they have decided to opt for a conventional race start in Monaco.

Trevor Foster, Joint Managing Director commented, “The drivers carried out successful launch control starts from the pit lane exit during testing in Valencia last week. For the launch control system to be fully effective however, it is important to carry out practice starts at individual race circuits, which is not possible in Monaco as the pit exit is too narrow.”

Both drivers have expressed concern at being left on a grid while other car fly by at great speed, so with safety a primary issue in mind, Foster continued, “As the track is also quite narrow, there is not as much room for cars to manoveure as at other circuits, so if a car stalled on the grid it could hinder the start for cars behind in the field.”

Following four days of aerodynamic development testing in Valencia, all four EJ11 cars in Monaco will run with several new aerodynamic parts.
