Eddie Jordan has revealed that his engine supplier, Honda, have had to change their main priorities after the recent introduction of traction and launch control.
He has commented that the Japanese power-unit suppliers have re-focused their developments and are now looking at different areas of the engine development to maximize the use of electronic driver aides and are now looking to improve all-out speed.
"Our engine is superb in driveability but the introduction of traction control has lessened its importance," said Jordan. "Honda is now changing its emphasis to get extra top-end power."
The EJ11 has been pretty reliable in the first 5 races of the season, but both then went out of the Austrian Garnd Prix suffering from electronics troubles.
Eddie knows this is currently the team's downfall but hinted that, as with any new car, there were others when he said: "Mechanically the car is very good, but there are lots of unknowns."
