10th May - Jordan sign new fuel supplier deal.

Petrobras, the huge Brazilian petrochemical maker, has signed a fuel supply deal with the Jordan team up to the end of the 2002 season.

The Brazilian firm, which infamously lost one of its massive oilrigs off the coast of Rio de Janeiro in March, already supplies fuel to Williams but has decided to increase its presence and exposure in F1 - Jordan will use their 'Lubrax' brand name.

Jordan will start using the Lubrax brand fuel this weekend in Austria.
"I am very satisfied with this partnership with Petrobras and to be able to use the Lubrax products in the Jordan-Honda EJ11," said team boss Eddie Jordan.
"In the battle to win F1 races and to win the world championship, each detail must be analysed. Our research with Petrobras fuel will be positive for our performance."

The new alliance with Jordan follows the firm’s announcement yesterday that the oilrig incident, which killed 11 people, would cut this year’s earnings by $US100 million.
